COLLECTION WATCH BIO: WELCOME NEW BALMAIN DESIGNER Olivier Rousteing

For those of you not familiar with the name, Olivier Rousteing is the amazingly talented, up-and-coming designer currently holding the reins for the fashion house Balmain. Following the overflow of speculations regarding reasons for Christophe Decarnin’s absence at the fashion show in February, Olivier Rousteing was given the honor of head designer of the label. The pressure is on for the 26-year-old designer who assisted Christophe Decarnin for two years.  But, don’t let his age fool you; following in the footsteps of Christophe Decarnin, Olivier Rousteing went to design school at the esteemed ESMOD- the first fashion school of France.  He worked for five years at Roberto Cavalli and it shows! The signature sexy, luxurious, glam rock style of the label was mostly clearly demonstrated in Olivier Rousteing’s Spring 2012 Balmain collection
